New in 2011, consumers shopping for light bulbs will notice a new label on all packages. This new labels is designed to help the consumer choose among the different type of light bulbs on the market, including new incandescent bulbs, CFL light bulbs, and LED light bulbs. These new labels not only help the customer save money by choosing the most efficient light bulb but it also helps them understand the critical specifications of each bulb.
The new label emphasizes six specifications that help customer select the best fit and most efficient light bulb. The most important change to the label is the measurement of brightness for each bulb. The measurement of lumens will replace the famous watts measurement. CFL light bulbs and LED light bulbs can very easy produce the same amount of brightness (lumens) while using significantly less wattage or energy. Now that these energy efficient bulbs have become popular, it’s even more important that the consumer fully understands what he or she is purchasing.
